We adhere to the strict quality management, environmental and occupational health and safety standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001. By using statistical process controls in every step in the manufacturing process, SolarWorld is able to maintain the highest level of quality. As the largest solar panel manufacturer in the U.S., we employ a sophisticated, fully automated manufacturing process supported by the most technologically advanced equipment available – from crystallization to moduling.
We test, test, and test again. At SolarWorld, we carry out many more tests than required by international standards. In fact, every component we use must meet at least 3 times IEC requirements. These tests help us improve the quality of our products by providing valuable information on the behavior of our solar modules. By using this data we can extend the life of our products, improve their properties and reduce error rates. IEC tests are regularly performed on random solar modules taken from our production sites to ensure the high reliability of our products even after they are introduced.
Potential induced degradation (PID) is a phenomenon where the power output of a solar module is reduced when exposed to high negative voltage bias between the cells and ground. PID can potentially affect the performance of individual modules as well as the overall power output and efficiency of an entire solar power generating system. SolarWorld Sunmodules have been certified as PID free by 3rd party laboratories.
The TÜV Rheinland “Power Controlled” inspection mark guarantees that an independent test provider certifies that the power ratings specified for our solar panels are maintained and regularly monitored. The performance of our solar panels exhibits a mere 2 percent measuring tolerance. No other manufacturer can claim such precise performance.
With a maximum load capacity of up to 5400 Pa (113 psf), SolarWorld Sunmodules are designed to withstand heavy accumulations of snow and ice.
Plus‑Sorting guarantees highest system efficiency. SolarWorld only delivers modules that have greater than or equal to the nameplate rated power. The positive power tolerance guarantees utmost system efficiency. Only modules achieving or exceeding the designated nominal power in performance tests are dispatched. The power tolerance ranges between -0 Wp and +5 Wp.
Optimized surface structure: The proprietary surface coatings and granular texture of the Sunmodule’s front glass create two effects: the reduction of the light reflected from the outside (air-glass interface) and the internal trapping of the light reflected from the solar cells in the module (light-trapping). These two effects combine to make an extremely efficient and high performance PV module.
SolarWorld Sunmodules have passed the most severe IEC 61701 salt spray test conditions proving their resistance to salty air which makes them ideally suited for installation in coastal areas.
The certification to international standards provides additional assurance that SolarWorld panels are suitable for use in systems with greater than 600 Vdc string voltage.
In addition to reliability testing, we partner with third party test laboratories during the preparation of our PAN file and participate in their Outdoor Performance Index studies.
